Mary Grace Gallagher, Biographer

Mary Grace Gallagher founded A Novel Life in 1995 when she was commissioned to write her first biography. That privately published book, a tale of a tight-knit Maryland clan and its powerful patriarch, placed the family’s most cherished stories and character studies in context with scene-setting dialogue and an historical perspective that is often reserved for novels.

For the family, it provided an entertaining, very readable story that will forever link five generations with an understanding of the actions and decisions that built their foundation in America.

For Gallagher, a newspaper and magazine feature writer with a journalism degree, the creative process provided an opportunity to delve more deeply into a profile than ever before. Gallagher has since expanded A Novel Life to include condensed biographies, in which she attempts to capture a lifetime in 2,000 words.

Gallagher lives in Annapolis, Maryland, with her husband and three young sons.
